Praia do Quião

Praia do Quião is a picturesque beach situated in the city of Póvoa de Varzim, in the Porto district of Portugal. The beach is nestled near the small town of A Ver-o-Mar, providing a tranquil retreat away from the city's bustling center. It is characterized by its long, fine sandy shoreline, which is bordered on the north by Cabo de Santo André and on the south by Ribeira do Esteiro. The beach also features slightly coarse sand, rocks, and small dunes at the back of the beach, adding to its natural allure. Praia do Quião is well-maintained and clean, with both the sand and water kept in good condition. It has been recognized with the Blue Flag award, a testament to its cleanliness and safety. Despite its peaceful ambiance, the beach does not lack amenities. It offers sun umbrella and hat rentals, as well as showers. However, visitors are encouraged to bring their own gear as there are no chair rentals available. Traditional activities such as winter fishing and seaweed collection, particularly in the northern area of the beach, are still practiced here. Parking is available along the road behind the beach and is free of charge. However, these spaces tend to fill up quickly due to the area's popularity for biking and walking along the ocean. Despite this, the beach is easily accessible by road and is surrounded by other streets in the area. Being a popular destination among both residents and visitors, the beach offers plenty of great spots for sunbathing and is known for its breathtaking sunsets, making it a charming and relaxing destination.
