Praia da Ribeira Brava is a beautiful beach located in the parish of Ribeira Brava on the west coast of Madeira. Embracing natural beauty, the beach is nestled within an imposing valley and is a harmonious blend of urban landscape and natural charm. The beach is characterized by a unique combination of black sand and pebbles. Despite its rocky nature, the beach offers a pleasant experience for visitors.
The beach is an ideal spot for sunbathing and swimming, thanks to a man-made bay that provides calm waters and a sunbathing area with two pools, one of which is specifically designed for children. Further enhancing the experience, wooden walkways and platforms have been installed, some of which are fitted with parasols, offering shade for those who wish to sunbathe. The beach is also known for its beautiful sunset, making it a perfect spot for visitors to unwind and enjoy the view.
Praia da Ribeira Brava is well-equipped with excellent amenities to cater to the needs of visitors. These include sun loungers, changing facilities, sanitary facilities, and a first aid station. For dining and refreshment needs, there are a bar and a restaurant. In 2021, the beach underwent improvements, which included the installation of new walkways to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.
The beach is part of the Bandeira Azul program, indicating its high environmental and safety standards. It also boasts an excellent quality of Atlantic waters. The beach is open for swimming and other activities during the summer months, and access to the Complexo Balnear da Ribeira Brava is free.
