Risco Beach

Risco Beach, also known as Playa El Risco, is a secluded and serene destination located in the municipality of Haría on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Spain. It is recognized for its natural beauty, characterized by its crystal clear water, golden sand, and a picturesque mountain that forms a stunning backdrop.

The beach stretches 845 meters long and is 20 meters wide. Despite its size, Risco Beach is not typically crowded, even during the peak season. This lack of crowds can likely be attributed to its remote location and the effort needed to reach it, making it an appealing choice for those seeking solitude and a sense of being alone on an untouched island. Risco Beach is a nudist beach, but it's worth noting that it does not offer facilities for disabled access.

Risco Beach is accessible via a hike down a steep yet manageable path from the Camino de los Gracioseros. This descent typically takes between 45 minutes to an hour, depending on one's pace, with the return journey being slightly longer due to the uphill climb. The trail is known to be slippery and filled with loose, sharp rocks, making good hiking shoes a necessity. Some visitors may also find a hiking stick or pole to be beneficial.

Once at the beach, visitors will find several zocos, or shelters, where they can set up camp and seek respite from the wind. However, it should be noted that conditions at the beach can become quite windy, so visitors are advised to bring a hat, plenty of water, and sunscreen, particularly during the summer months. To make the most of a day at Risco Beach, an early morning visit is recommended.
