Royal Beach

Royal Beach is a small, designated off-lead dog beach, known for its distinct yellow, squashy sand. It is characterized by its rocky terrain, both on the beach and in the water, with plenty of rocks for climbing and exploration. The beach is also home to rock pools and shallow swimming areas, although it is not typically recommended for swimming due to the rocky underwater landscape. The beach is accessible via a pathway opposite the Royal Hotel. Visitors are advised to wear beach footwear due to the rocky nature of the beach. The beach is also known for its high cliffs, which provide a degree of security for dogs. However, the rocky terrain leading into the water can pose a risk for dogs bounding around, potentially leading to accidents and cut paws. Visitors to Royal Beach can also enjoy snorkeling, with a variety of fish, stingrays, sea urchins, sea stars, and krill to be seen. The visibility in the water is excellent on calm days. The beach is typically quiet, providing a peaceful environment for dogs and their owners. Unfortunately, litter can sometimes be an issue at Royal Beach, and visitors are encouraged to take their rubbish home with them to help keep the beach clean and beautiful.
