Cala Sa Olla, also known as Cala Binibèquer, is a renowned beach attraction in the southern part of Menorca, near the town of Sant Lluis, in the Balearic Islands, Spain. This beach is particularly recognized for its tranquil and picturesque setting, making it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. It is located near the Binibèquer Nou urbanization, which is approximately 150 meters away.
The beach is characterized by its fine white sand and crystal-clear water, which is usually free of algae unless the wind brings debris from the eastern coast. The water's shallow depth makes it not only a safe choice for families with children but also an ideal spot for snorkeling and underwater photography. The beach is surrounded by rocks that offer numerous spots for sunbathing and enjoying the surroundings.
Cala Sa Olla offers a variety of amenities including a beach bar, rental services for small boats such as kayaks and pedal boats, and lifeguard services. An SOS booth with a flag indicating the state of the beach is also present. However, due to its popularity, the beach can get quite crowded, and it lacks shade. A significant portion of the beach is occupied by rental sunbeds, which leaves less space for visitors who do not prefer this service.
Near the beach, there is a pine forest with benches where visitors can sit, eat, or rest in the shade. Additionally, if visitors walk to the right from the beach, they will find a small cove offering more privacy, if it's not already occupied.
To reach Cala Sa Olla from Mahón, travelers should take the road towards Sant Lluís, which is near the Ronda road exit by the Mateu Orfila Hospital. From Sant Lluís, follow the signs to the southern beaches, and after 2 km, take the road to Binibeca on the right. For those coming from Ciutadella, they should take the main road until reaching the roundabout of the Airport, then follow the Me-12 road until reaching the Camí de Na Ferrada, and finally the Me-10 road, which leads to the road to Binibèquer.
Access to Cala Sa Olla is primarily by scooter or car. In the summer months, a bus line from Mahón connects to the Binibèquer Nou urbanization. However, there is no mention of parking facilities for private vehicles. Visitors are advised to plan their visit accordingly due to the beach's popularity and limited shade.
