Silistar Beach is a beautiful beach located in Bulgaria, near the town of Carewo. It is known for its wide strip of soft sand, nestled between two rocky horns, creating an astonishing setting for nature lovers. The beach is not very long and access to it can be a bit challenging, but the beauty of the place makes it worth the effort.
The beach is partly organized, with a paid area that offers umbrellas for those who prefer a bit of shade, and a free area for those who want to enjoy the sea without any cost. There is also a surfing school on the beach that offers lessons and equipment rentals. The bay is perfect for kayaking or paddle boarding, and there is a big handmade wooden swing at the left end of the beach for visitors to enjoy.
The water at Silistar Beach is usually clean and calm, making it great for children as the first 15 meters are very shallow. However, the sea can sometimes be rough due to the openness of the bay.
Parking at Silistar Beach is abundant and free in the woods surrounding the beach, although there have been instances in the past where a parking fee was charged. The parking area is not specifically designed, it's more of a land with trees.
Getting to the beach involves about a mile of off-roading, which is not very challenging for cars. Once there, visitors can plan a full day visit and have lunch at the tavern on the beach, which offers a good variety of reasonably priced food.
Despite its natural beauty and amenities, Silistar Beach can get crowded with tourists, families, and friends. Unfortunately, some visitors leave trash on the sand, despite the presence of easily visible trash cans. However, the overall tranquility of the water and the beauty of the setting make Silistar Beach a lovely semi-wild beach that is worth visiting.
