Strand Stakendorf

Strand Stakendorf, located in the small village of Stakendorf, is a picturesque and tranquil beach on the Baltic Sea, known for its natural beauty and tranquility. The beach is situated approximately 2 kilometers from the coast, adjacent to the Schönberger Strand, and is marked by the Fischerhütten. Stakendorf is positioned 25 kilometers east of Kiel and 4 kilometers away from the Ostseebad Schönberg. The beach itself stretches for about 1.8 kilometers, featuring a wide sandy expanse and dunes that extend to the adjacent nature reserve. The eastern part of the beach is particularly suited for sunbathing and relaxation, providing shelter from the wind. A unique feature of the beach is the 400-meter-long structure known as the Quermole, located in the area of the nature reserve. This part of the beach is particularly wide, and due to its secluded location, it is often considered a hidden gem for beach enthusiasts. An unofficial nudist section is located approximately 1 kilometer east of the Fischerhütten, between two groynes. The beach also features a boat mooring place to the east of groyne 42, located behind the Fischerhütten in the western part of the beach. Despite its popularity, Strand Stakendorf is typically not crowded, even during the high season, offering a peaceful and serene beach experience. Strand Stakendorf is accessible by car, with a large and affordable parking lot located 200 meters from the beach. However, the section of the beach featuring the Quermole can only be accessed by bike or on foot. The nearest bus stop is in the neighboring town of Schönberg, and the main town of Stakendorf can be reached via the "Stakendorfer Tor" and the L165 road, a 4-kilometer bike ride from the seaside resort of Schönberg. The beach offers a number of amenities for visitors. While there are no public toilets or Strandkorb rentals available, the nearby camping site "Grasbleek", located directly next to the dike, features a snack bar that is open during the summer season. The beach is also a favorite spot for dog owners, with leashed dogs being permitted from November 1st to March 14th. Additionally, horseback riding is allowed during the same period, provided riders have undergone training and certification from the local coastal protection authority. For those wishing to stay overnight, the Campingplatz Grasbleek is available, located behind the dike and in close proximity to the beach. The beach is free from tourist taxes, and while it is not supervised, the municipality of Stakendorf provides rescue equipment and first aid signs during the bathing season to ensure the safety of its visitors.
