Praia de Suave Mar

Praia de Suave Mar is a scenic beach located in the town of Esposende, Portugal. It is situated near the mouth of the Cávado River and is part of the Natural Park of the Northern Coast. The beach is known for its expansive sandy landscape, primitive dunes, typical vegetation, and a well-consolidated dune system, contributing to its rich natural beauty.

This beach offers a wide range of amenities and facilities. These include lifeguard supervision, parking, a restaurant and bar/cafeteria, showers, toilets, foot washers, and the provision of beach tents and umbrellas for rent. Access to Praia de Suave Mar is well facilitated. Ample parking is available, including organized parking along Avenida de Banhos and Praça da Praia de Suave Mar. The beach is wheelchair-friendly and also provides parking for bicycles. During the summer months, a small train provides transportation from Esposende to the beach. Additionally, the beach can be accessed via the Ecovia do Litoral Norte.

Despite being the most visited beach in the municipality, particularly during the summer months, Praia de Suave Mar does not typically get overly crowded, thus maintaining a serene environment for visitors. It has a capacity to accommodate up to 3000 people.

For those interested in sports and leisure activities, the beach offers opportunities for windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing, fishing, and hiking. It is a favorite spot for surfers throughout the year, with windsurfers finding good conditions during the summer. The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag and the Gold Quality award, indicating its excellent water quality.
