Südstrand

Südstrand, Fehmarn, is a beach located in the heart of the Südstrand area on the island of Fehmarn, Germany. The beach is known for its fine sandy surface, clear waters, and abundant sunshine, making it one of the sunniest spots in the country with approximately 2200 hours of sunshine per year. The beach's ample space, even during the peak season, is one of its primary attractions. The waters can get quite windy, which in turn attracts sailing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. A unique platform located 100 meters into the water, equipped with a jumping spot and a slide, adds to the beach's appeal. Südstrand has been providing beach chair rentals since 1955, managed by a family-owned business. The rental service, open daily from around 9:00 am, offers personal advice to visitors. The keys for the beach chairs can be obtained from the rental house, situated near the main entrance to the beach. If visitors wish to stay until late in the night, they have the flexibility to do so. For convenience, showers and toilets are available just 50 meters away from the beach and the beach chairs. There are also plenty of spots to purchase food and drinks. Visitors can also rent sitting huts for a more comfortable seating option. The beach is dog-friendly, with a designated dog beach located about a five-minute walk east of the rental service. Despite its popularity, Südstrand remains a free beach, making it a budget-friendly choice for visitors. Free Wi-Fi is available in many parts of the beach, accessible with a tourist tax payment. Visitors are advised to check the weather conditions before visiting, and if there's a delay in arrival, they are requested to inform the rental service.
