Playa de Tacorón

Playa de Tacorón, often simply referred to as Tacorón, is a picturesque beach nestled in the municipality of El Pinar de El Hierro, on the island of El Hierro in Spain. The beach spans a length and width of 10 meters and is known to draw crowds during the peak season. The beach's natural surroundings are characterized by a mix of lush vegetation and a dramatic landscape formed by lava flows.

This isolated beach is situated amidst a breathtaking setting, making it an ideal spot for outdoor activities such as sunbathing, swimming, and watching stunning sunsets. Snorkeling is another popular activity at Playa de Tacorón, with the opportunity to observe various species of fish. The beach also features multiple entry points to the water, including ladders, sandy sections, and rocks. There is also a natural pool area within the vicinity. However, visitors are advised to exercise caution when entering the water from this point due to potential waves.

Playa de Tacorón is well-equipped with amenities to ensure a convenient and enjoyable experience for visitors. Wooden pathways have been installed for easy navigation around the beach, and large, covered barbecue huts are available for those wishing to spend the entire day at the beach. Shaded seating areas with tables are also provided for visitor use. Sanitary facilities are conveniently located near the parking area.

For those planning to drive to the beach, there is a parking lot accessible via an asphalt road. Despite its popularity, Playa de Tacorón is spacious enough to allow visitors to find a quiet spot at any given time. The beach also features a kiosk, although its operating hours may vary.

To reach the beach, visitors can follow a beautiful route starting from the parking lot of Tacorón's pond which leads to the small village of El Pinar. This route, however, has a significant incline and may not be recommended in hot weather. Along the route, visitors will be treated to a spectacular view of a wild sea of lava, punctuated by small volcanic cones, and as they ascend, the views become even more impressive. Once at the top, near the pine trees, one can admire the Atalaya from above and discover unique and abstract shapes in the orographic mantle that extends to the sea.
