Plage Tambours is a small, sandy beach located between the towns of Sausset and Martigues. Despite its size, roughly equivalent to half a football field, it is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. The beach is characterized by its natural beauty, with clear, clean water that is particularly suitable for children. However, it is important to note that the beach is unguarded.
Over time, the beach's sand has been gradually replaced by large, cubic pebbles due to storms. This change in the beach's natural characteristics has not deterred visitors, and the beach can get surprisingly busy.
Parking is available near the beach, with a small parking lot and additional parking along the road known as the Roselière. However, access is limited to vehicles with a maximum height of 1.90m. Despite its isolated location, visitors are advised to be cautious as there have been instances of car break-ins.
In addition to its appeal as a beach, Plage Tambours also serves as an excellent starting point for hikes. Visitors can embark on the walk of the customs officers' path or the botanical circuit, both of which offer magnificent views and a breath of fresh air.
