Praia da Torreira

Praia da Torreira is an expansive beach located on the coastal cordon that separates the Ria de Aveiro estuary from the sea, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to enjoy the open sea or the calm waters of the estuary. The beach is part of a 25-kilometer stretch of sand that runs from São Jacinto to Furadouro, and is known for its natural beauty, characterized by its huge waves, white sand, and the frequent sight of seagulls when the fishermen arrive. The beach is well-maintained and offers ample space, making it well-suited for activities such as surfing, bodyboarding, windsurfing, and sailing. Despite its size, the beach can get quite windy on most days, and is particularly busy during the weekends in the summer. Praia da Torreira is also known for its traditional fishing heritage, with brightly colored boats still seen on the water. The beach is popular among walkers, and offers regional gastronomic specialties, including eel dishes. The beach is equipped with a variety of amenities. Visitors can avail of sunshade rental and showers, which are conveniently located at three points along the beach. There is also a bar and restaurant on the premises. The local council has constructed a parking area on the south side of the beach, improving parking ease for visitors, however, no specific directions to this parking area are provided. The beach is located in a charming and clean town, known for its colorful buildings. The town offers a variety of cafes and restaurants, as well as shops selling souvenirs. Despite its small size, a 10-minute walk across town offers a different experience on the ocean side compared to the bay side.
