Plage de Tourony is a picturesque beach nestled in the resort town of Trégastel, situated in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Bretagne, France. This easternmost beach in Trégastel is renowned for its distinctive natural features and is located near the town of Ploumanach.
The beach is set in a sandy cove, providing panoramic views of the Coastérès Castle. A defining characteristic of Plage de Tourony is its unique rounded rock formations, a hallmark of the Pink Granite Coast near Ploumanach. Adjacent to the beach is a pine forest, offering a shaded area for visitors.
Access to Plage de Tourony is straightforward, with the beach reachable from Ploumanac’h town center via the Boulevard de Traouiero. A right turn onto Rue de Tourony leads directly to the beach.
Parking for beachgoers is conveniently provided in a large free lot along the beach. However, it's worth noting that the parking area can become crowded, particularly during weekday mornings around 9am. There have been occasional instances of vandalism in the parking area.
The beach itself is known for its rough sand that does not stick, a unique feature that sets it apart. The tide at Plage de Tourony can recede quite a distance, which may impact swimming. However, the water is generally very shallow and the beach lacks significant wave activity, making it suitable for young children.
Amenities at Plage de Tourony are somewhat limited, as there are no toilets or showers available. Considering the rocky terrain, visitors are advised to wear swimming shoes while walking along the beach and swimming.
While Plage de Tourony does not permit dogs between June 15th and September 15th, outside of these dates, the beach is a splendid spot for walkers and swimmers alike. Despite occasional challenges, visitors typically find Plage de Tourony to be a delightful area for a peaceful stroll and a refreshing swim.
