Aguilar Beach is a popular destination located in Muros de Nalón, a municipality in the Asturias region of Spain. It is positioned within a cove, making it a sheltered and easily accessible location. The beach is approximately 1.8 km from Muros, 4.2 km from Soto del Barco, and 22 km from Avilés. Despite its relatively small size, Aguilar Beach has been developed to accommodate a large number of visitors.
The beach is characterized by its fine golden sand, which spans across a length of approximately 640 meters. It is surrounded by gentle cliffs and forests, adding to its natural beauty. The beach has moderate waves, making it an ideal location for games such as Palas and football during low tide. The beach also features vegetation, further enhancing its semi-urban appeal.
During the summer season, Aguilar Beach tends to be highly occupied. However, despite its popularity, it maintains a balance in its crowd, ensuring visitors never feel too uncomfortable or alone. It is also a favorite among repeat visitors, with some making it a point to visit even during the winter season.
Aguilar Beach has been consistently awarded the Blue Flag for the quality of its waters, a recognition of its clean and clear water that attracts many visitors. At the western limit of the beach, in the Cudillero area, there is a cave that can be visited during low tide.
The beach provides a range of amenities, including showers and food options. There is also a parking area for visitors' vehicles. During the summer season, parking fees are charged to vehicles that do not pay their Vehicle Tax in the municipality. However, exemptions are available for those who obtain a free parking card from the Town Hall.
Adjacent to Aguilar Beach, in the western area, is another beach called Playa de CampofrĂo. Both beaches share the same services and are considered part of the same sandy area. They are separated by a stream, and Playa de CampofrĂo can be accessed by crossing a cave during low tide.
