Spiaggia Alimini

Spiaggia Alimini is a popular beach situated a few kilometers away from the city of Otranto, in the province of Lecce. It is named after the neighboring Alimini lakes. The beach is characterized by its almost white fine sand, which in some places turns black due to the presence of natural iron minerals. The water at Spiaggia Alimini is crystal clear, warm, and shallow, ideal for leisurely walks.

This beach offers various amenities including beach bars and the ability to rent sunbeds. There are also grocery stores, restaurants, and further beach facilities nearby. Visitors can freely access the beach, and it is also open to pets.

During peak season, especially on weekends, Spiaggia Alimini can become quite busy. Therefore, it is recommended to arrive early or make a reservation in advance. There is also a less crowded free beach area located at the mouth of a nearby lake.

As for parking, there is a paid parking area available. However, finding a parking spot can be challenging due to limited spaces, particularly during peak times. An alternative parking area known as 'Parcheggio dei Turchi' is available for visitors who don't mind a hike to reach the beach.

To get to Spiaggia Alimini, one can drive from the city of Otranto, which takes about fifteen minutes. Upon arrival, a short walk through a pine forest leads to the beach. Additionally, a shuttle service from Otranto to the beach is available for the convenience of visitors.

During the off-peak season, particularly in October, the beach offers a more tranquil experience with fewer crowds, allowing visitors to explore more secluded areas of the beach. With its clear, green-blue waters and picturesque scenery, Spiaggia Alimini provides an almost Caribbean-like experience.
