Praia do Areão

Praia do Areão is a vast and lengthy beach located in the town of Vagos, on the south coast of Portugal, approximately an hour south of Porto. It is directly situated on the Atlantic Ocean, which is known for its high waves, requiring visitors to exercise caution when entering the water.

The beach is characterized by its predominantly wild and natural landscape, with no buildings, surrounded by dunes that serve as a boundary between the beach and the nearby agricultural fields. However, it should be noted that dogs are not permitted on the beach during the high season, which lasts until the end of September.

Access to Praia do Areão is via a road that requires some maintenance. Before reaching the beach, visitors will pass a small camping space located near a local bar.
