Playa de Argentella, also known as Plage de l'Argentella - Crovani, is a stunning beach located in the town of Calenzana, on the island of Corsica. This beach is recognized for its unique natural features, particularly its small pebbles that are a variety of colors including green, reddish, pink, white, gray, and shiny. These pebbles give the beach a distinctive appeal and characterize it as one of the most beautiful pebble beaches in Haute-Corse.
The beach is situated inside the Crovani bay and is known for its large, wild, and serene environment. The transparency of the sea at Playa de Argentella is exceptionally clear, making it a beautiful sight. Additionally, the beach is quite windy due to its exposed location on the bay, providing a respite from the heat and making it ideal for a range of activities such as sailing sports, relaxing, and exploring the coast and the small island opposite by canoe, provided the wind conditions are suitable.
Interestingly, despite its natural beauty, Playa de Argentella is not typically crowded, even during the peak season in August. The beach's uniform color may not immediately attract tourists, but locals who are familiar with the area frequently visit and enjoy the beach.
Access to Playa de Argentella is relatively straightforward. It is located on the D81b road, a tourist route that is in poor condition. From this road, a comfortable downhill dirt road turns right from the coastal road from Calvi, leading to the beach. This road also leads to a car park near the beach, although parking can be somewhat challenging due to limited space. From the car park, a visible path leads to the beach, passing a small and comfortable plank pier.
In terms of amenities, the beach has a bar, although it has been reported to be closed occasionally. There was also a camping site near the beach, but it is currently closed. Despite the limited amenities and the beach's location in a less touristy area between Calvi and Galéria, Playa de Argentella offers a tranquil environment for visitors seeking a peaceful beach experience.
