Astarea Beach, locally known as Plaža Astarea, is located in the scenic town of Mlini, approximately 10 kilometers from Dubrovnik. The beach is nestled within the vicinity of two buildings, Astarea I and Astarea II, which are a mere 100 meters apart from each other. It is approximately 150 meters from the local bus station, making it easily accessible for visitors.
Astarea Beach is characterized by its unique combination of sand, pebbles, gravel, and concrete or stone slabs, with a height of 270 meters. It also boasts of a gravelly shoreline located about 50 meters away from the associated hotel. Its natural beauty is complemented by trees and little rocks, adding to its tranquil charm. However, it is a rocky beach and may not be suitable for those who prefer to lay their own towels, as most of the beach is covered with commercial beddings.
Despite its serene atmosphere, Astarea Beach offers a range of amenities to ensure a comfortable experience for its visitors. These include a restaurant and snack bar for dining, a café or beverage stand for refreshments, shower facilities, and changing cabins. The beach also has sun loungers and umbrellas available for rent.
The beach is closely associated with a hotel that provides a host of facilities including an indoor pool with heated seawater, an outdoor pool for adults and children, conference rooms, sauna, fitness facilities, and free parking in front of the hotel. The hotel also provides half-board service, including buffet breakfast and dinner, adding to the convenience for visitors.
Despite its beauty and good infrastructure, parking and access to Astarea Beach can be challenging. However, it is worth noting that it offers a quiet retreat for visitors, devoid of loud beach bars. It is a wonderful 'day break' from Dubrovnik and can be reached in approximately 17 minutes by car.
