Barney Point Beach is an east-facing beach located in the southeast of Gladstone, Queensland, Australia, approximately 524 km from Brisbane and 118 km from Rockhampton. The beach is named after Lieutenant Colonel George Barney who led the expedition to establish the Colony of North Australia in 1847. It is situated along the Prince Regent Esplanade and Young and Barney Streets on the foreshore. With a length of 300 meters, Barney Point Beach is the only swimming beach in Gladstone. It is characterised by its coarse sand and pebbles, and a relatively steep beach face. The beach typically experiences low wind waves generated within the harbor. In front of the beach, there are 200-meter wide tidal flats. The area surrounding the beach is slightly sloped and features native vegetation, including mangroves.
