Boschettona Beach is the sole beach located in the province of Padova, specifically in the town of Codevigo, within the territory of Saccisica. It is nestled within the Valle Millecampi, a part of the Venetian lagoon in the Padova region. The beach provides a distinctive landscape boasting views of the nearby barene, a type of marshland found in the Venetian lagoon.
In terms of natural characteristics, Boschettona Beach is frequently windy, making it a popular spot for kitesurfing enthusiasts. The sand on the beach is quite damp and home to various molluscs, adding to its natural charm. Moreover, the beach is situated within a conservation area, providing a wild and untouched environment for visitors.
The beach is unorganized, offering a peaceful and intimate atmosphere to its visitors. Despite its popularity, it does not tend to be overly crowded, particularly away from the central part of the beach. Due to its location within a shellfish 'farm' area, the beach has a unique appeal.
The beach is accessible via the Strada Romea in Codevigo. From here, visitors can turn left onto Via Corte Fogolana and continue to the Casoni. However, the road to the beach has a barrier restricting vehicles wider than 2.4 meters. In terms of amenities, the Casoni della Fogolana, which are cone-shaped straw shelters, have been transformed into square or rectangular buildings with marsh reed roofs. Although the Casoni are currently closed for maintenance, the surrounding garden is open on Saturdays and Sundays.
Additionally, visitors can explore the nearby Oasi Ca' di Mezzo, a wetland area covering 30 hectares. This oasis was created to purify water from the Altipiano Canal before it flows into the Venice Lagoon and provides habitats for various animal species. The entrance to the oasis is free, and it is open for visitation at all times.
Boschettona Beach can be enjoyed throughout the year. However, visitors are advised to bring warm clothes in the winter due to the windy conditions. They are also recommended to bring something waterproof to place under their blankets due to the dampness of the sand.
