Praia do Cabeço

Praia do Cabeço is a popular beach located approximately 6 kilometers from Castro Marim in the eastern Algarve region. The beach, also known as Retur, is characterized by a long stretch of sandy terrain that extends in both directions, offering ample space for visitors to relax and enjoy. It is surrounded by a pine forest, which includes a variety of vegetation such as strawberry trees, junipers, wild asparagus, and aromatic plants like sand everlasting and rosemary. The cool and refreshing air from the forest, combined with the beach's calm, warm waters, makes it an inviting location for visitors. The beach is well-known for its cleanliness and accessibility. It is equipped with a lifeguard, ensuring safety for all visitors. Additionally, the beach provides wheelchair accessories, making it accessible to everyone. Visitors are encouraged to use the existing boardwalks to cross the dune cord, as part of efforts to preserve the area's natural beauty. Praia do Cabeço offers a range of amenities, including sunshade rental, small craft hire, showers, and recreational and bathing support. There are also restaurants and restrooms available for visitor convenience. The beach service is provided by a local beach restaurant, which offers a convenient ordering system. To reach Praia do Cabeço, visitors can take a paved road from EN 125, following the direction of Praia do Cabeço for about 1.3 km. There are ample informal parking areas available in the eastern, central, and western sectors of the beach. These parking areas, including a dirt access area, have been reviewed as satisfactory by visitors and are also accessible for campervans and motorhomes. Despite its popularity, Praia do Cabeço maintains a spacious and peaceful environment. This is partly due to the effective management of distancing measures, which helps to prevent overcrowding.
