Plage de Cabourg is a picturesque sandy beach in the town of Cabourg, situated in the Normandy region. Spanning 4 kilometers, it offers a serene seaside experience enhanced by the panoramic view of the CĂ´te de Nacre, the CĂ´te Fleurie, and Le Havre. The beach is bordered by a pedestrian promenade that provides an opportunity to admire the Belle Ăpoque charm of the numerous late 19th and early 20th-century villas along the waterfront.
Known as "La plage des romantiques," Plage de Cabourg caters to a variety of visitors. It is family-friendly, with two beach clubs that provide a range of amenities for children, including trampolines, inflatable structures, and recreational activities. In addition, they offer swimming lessons, making it a perfect spot for beginners to learn swimming under expert supervision. The beach is also a haven for sports enthusiasts, offering activities such as swimming, coastal walking, beach volleyball, horseback riding, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, and land sailing.
Throughout the summer, the beach is a hub of animation, hosting a variety of events for both children and adults. These include sandcastle competitions, beach art events, beach volleyball tournaments, and dinner on the dike.
Conscious of inclusivity, the beach provides access for people with reduced mobility. A gentle slope and a polymer mat at the central lifeguard station ensure comfortable access to the sand. Moreover, a specialized beach wheelchair, Tiralo, is available for rent at the lifeguard station.
Visitors can enjoy the beach in comfort with amenities such as sun loungers, tented parasols, and beach cabins available for rent during the season. Dogs are permitted on the beach facing the dunes of Pointe de Cabourg, at the eastern end of the beach, all year round. However, they are not allowed in other areas of the beach.
For the safety of its visitors, the beach is monitored by four lifeguard stations during the season. The central lifeguard station operates on weekends and public holidays starting from April, while all lifeguard stations are open every day from July 5th to September 2nd.
The beach is easily accessible by road. Despite being occasionally windy, its tranquility and natural beauty make it a must-visit destination. The beach is typically not crowded, ensuring ample space for visitors to relax and enjoy the surroundings. As the sun sets, the beach offers a breathtaking view of the sky and sea painted in various shades of pink, orange, and purple.
Amenities such as a boat school for sailboat rentals or lessons, fresh water showers, and toilets near post 4 add to the convenience of the visitors. The beach is also surrounded by restaurants, though the city center is noted to offer more reasonable prices.
