Spiaggia Calabernardo is a picturesque beach located in the southeastern part of Sicily, just 7 kilometers away from the Baroque capital, Noto. It is nestled next to a quaint seaside village of the same name, Calabernardo, which is adorned with a harbor and an out-of-use lighthouse.
The beach is characterized by its small stretch of golden sand that gradually transitions into a slightly rocky area. The sand extends to a length of about 500 meters, making it an ideal spot for a wide range of beach-goers. The beach faces the south-southeast and is bathed by the beautiful turquoise sea, which remains shallow near the shore.
Spiaggia Calabernardo is known for its serene and tranquil environment, and is typically not crowded, making it an ideal destination for those seeking peace and quiet. The beach is complemented by the presence of sand dunes that sit behind the beach area, near the mouth of the Asinara River, adding to its natural charm.
The beach offers several amenities to its visitors including bar services. However, it is important to note that the showers on the beach can be a bit challenging to use, with some concerns about the safety of the shower switch. Nonetheless, the beach is generally well-maintained and clean, although there have been occasional lapses in its cleanliness.
In terms of accessibility, visitors can reach the beach by driving along SP 35 and SP 34 towards the Calabernardo district from Noto. During the summer, a shuttle bus service is also available from Noto to Calabernardo. There is a parking area located behind the beach for those traveling by car. However, visitors should be cautious as there have been reports of car thefts in the area.
