Playa das Furadas is a small and tranquil beach, located in the urban area of Tapia de Casariego, in the region of Occidente de Asturias, northern Spain. The beach is particularly cherished by the locals from the neighborhoods of San Blas and La Guardia. Being only 40 meters long, it's known for its golden fine sand, moderate waves, and a distinctive rock formation on the east side that gives the beach its name. The beach is part of the Red Natura 2000 network, classified within ZEPA and ZEC, indicating its environmental protection status.
Despite its small size compared to other nearby beaches, Playa das Furadas is known for its charm and tranquility, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. During low tide, the beach provides access to the nearby beaches of San Blas, El Murallón, and Los Campos. However, it's important to note that it can get crowded, particularly at low tide when the beach area is reduced.
While the beach lacks toilet facilities and showers, it does offer surveillance, ensuring a safe environment for all visitors. The water quality is optimal, making it a great spot for a refreshing swim. Additionally, there is an equipped park nearby, offering a place for visitors to relax and find shade.
Access to the beach can be achieved on foot or by car, with parking available although it can be challenging due to its popularity. To reach the beach, one can ask for directions to the La Guardia or San Blas neighborhoods, or take a walk along the elevated path that connects them. The beach is easily accessible via the well-developed transportation infrastructure of Tapia de Casariego, which includes the N-634 highway and the FEVE railway line.
