The Plage des Grands Sables is a picturesque beach situated in Locmaria, Morbihan, in the region of Brittany. The swimming area is located on the right side of the beach, near the lifeguard station, providing a safe environment for swimmers. Visitors are however advised to be cautious during low tide due to the presence of small stones that could potentially cause discomfort to bare feet, as well as a greater variation in water depth.
The Plage des Grands Sables is also known for its historical significance, with remnants of fortifications and the La Ferrière fort overlooking the beach. The beach is protected from the westerly winds, adding to its appeal for visitors.
In terms of amenities, the beach offers free parking conveniently located nearby. The parking area is equipped with disabled access and tiralo chairs, ensuring accessibility for all visitors. These tiralo chairs are available during July and August, making the beach accessible to people with reduced mobility. The beach is also in close proximity to other attractions such as the Bugul point and cove.
