Playa Elche, also known as Elx / Elche, is a stunning coastal area located in the province of Alicante, Spain. This beach, which is part of the Mediterranean Sea, is popular for its clear turquoise waters and sandy shoreline, making it a well-known landmark and a popular travel destination in the region.
The beach stretches for nine kilometers and is divided into six sections. Each of these sections, namely El Altet, Arenales del Sol, El Carabassí, El Pinet, La Marina, and Les Pesqueres El Rebollo, boasts unique natural features and landscapes. The northern part of Playa Elche is characterized by sand dunes, while the southern part is marked by pine forests. These areas are well-preserved, offering high ecological value, and are home to diverse marine life.
El Altet spans two kilometers and is one of the few remaining natural dune habitats in the Valencian Community and the Iberian Peninsula. Arenales del Sol, with its nearly three-kilometer stretch, is the only area with a coastal urban center and features a long promenade with wooden walkways leading to the shore. El Carabassí combines dunes and pine forests and is located near the Balsares salt marshes and wetlands, forming a valuable ecosystem. El Pinet, La Marina, and Les Pesqueres El Rebollo all offer impressive dune strips and vast pine forests.
Playa Elche is an ideal location for a range of activities, including scuba diving due to its proximity to the Tabarca Island marine reserve, and various water sports. It is also suitable for walking along the sea, offering beautiful views of the surrounding area.
The beach is equipped with several amenities for visitors' convenience. There are toilets available, foot washing devices, and sunbeds for rent. It also features playgrounds for children. Parking at Playa Elche is also convenient, with plenty of free spaces available for cars. The beach is easily accessible, with only a short two-minute walk from the parking area to the beach front.
Despite its popularity, the atmosphere at Playa Elche remains relaxed and friendly, making it a popular choice for beachgoers. Its commitment to ensuring legality, health, cleanliness, safety, and appropriate environmental information and management has earned it five Blue Flags, a prestigious international recognition.
