Es Trenc is a nature park and beach situated in Campos, in the southeast region of Mallorca, Spain. The park is renowned for its diverse and rich landscapes, which include dunes, saltwater lagoons, and cultivated fields. The beach of Es Trenc, located at the foot of this natural landscape, is celebrated for its paradisiacal beauty, featuring white sand and calm, shallow, crystal-clear water. The beach stretches approximately 10 km from Sa Ràpita to Colònia de Sant Jordi, and is known for being a popular naturist and LGBT beach on the island.
The nature park encompasses a total area of 1,441.06 hectares of land and 2,327.20 hectares of marine area, including several islets. It hosts a variety of habitats, such as seagrass meadows of Posidonia oceanica, primary dune ridges, stabilized dunes, coastal ponds, pine and juniper forests, and agricultural and livestock areas. The park is known for its ecological, natural, and scenic richness, and is managed according to regulations set by the Law 2/2017, which declared it a protected natural area.
Es Trenc's Salobrar de Campos is the second largest wetland on the island, nourished by the crystalline waters of the beach. This area has been declared a protected area due to its dynamic and well-preserved ecosystem, which is home to various bird species, including flamingos, sea eagles, and reeds. The area also features a chain of dunes with plants adapted to the salt content of the soil. Visitors are allowed to engage in activities like observing fauna and flora, non-professional photography, and non-traditional fishing, as long as they do not disturb the natural and cultural values of the park. There are also guided tours offered by the Salinas de Es Trenc, which provide insight into the history and the salt-mining process of the area.
Despite its popularity, Es Trenc does not have any hotels or restaurants in its immediate vicinity. Visitors are advised to bring an umbrella or a tent for shade. The only restroom facilities are located at a nearby restaurant. Parking at Es Trenc is available but can get busy, especially on crowded days. The parking fee is considered a bit expensive by some visitors, but the access from the parking lot to the beach is well-maintained. Despite its popularity, due to its extensive size, the beach provides ample space for visitors even on crowded days. The beach is also renowned for its magnificent sunsets and offers an added bonus for visitors with a chance to see flamingos en route to the beach.
