Praia do Furadouro Sul, often referred to as the fishermen's or surfers' beach, is situated about 3 km from Ovar and is known for its large sandy area and strong Atlantic waves. The beach is surrounded by a dense pine forest and is accessible via a 600m flat boardwalk. The beach is bordered by dunes and forests, adding to its unspoilt natural beauty. Praia do Furadouro Sul is characterised by its calm and serene atmosphere, enhanced by the sounds of waves and seagulls. Despite its remote feel, the beach always maintains a breezy to windy climate, making it an ideal location for rest and relaxation. The beach is also known for its safe environment due to the presence of sea defences. The beach offers various amenities, including the rental of sunshades and boats. There is a parking area available for visitors, but the last WC is located at the car park. There are no showers, bathrooms, or beach bars on the beach itself, so visitors are advised to bring their own water and other necessities. Visitors can also enjoy various activities such as surfing, bodyboarding, windsurfing, and sailing. Despite its vast expanse, Praia do Furadouro Sul offers ample space for visitors to sit and walk, allowing them to enjoy the view of the surrounding sea, nature, and wildlife. However, there are no kiosks available on the beach. For those wishing to visit, Ovar can be reached by bicycle through a cycle path.
