Giagana Beach

Giagana Beach is a secluded pebble beach located in Kefalonia. The beach is known for its unique natural characteristics, including large rocks and an underwater current that can make the water appear blurry. Despite this, the waters are often described as crystal clear, albeit slightly blurry due to cold water streams coming from the mountains through the rocks. This provides a refreshing contrast to the warmer waters of the region. The beach is accessible by car, though the road leading to it is described as normal and not off-road. Some visitors have found the drive to the beach a bit challenging due to the gravel and rocks on the road. As an alternative, some visitors choose to park their cars at the top of one of the bends by the village and walk down, a journey that takes about an hour each way but offers stunning views. One unique feature of Giagana Beach is that anchoring is forbidden due to the presence of electrical submarine cables, which means the beach is often avoided by boats. This, combined with its remote location, often results in a less crowded beach experience. Visitors are advised to bring everything they need for the day, including water and food, as there are no shops, taverns, or toilets available on the beach. The beach is also home to trees that provide shade from the hot sun during the noon hours.
