Megali Petra Beach is a spacious and beautiful beach located in Lefkada. It is known for its fine pebbles that sometimes turn into sand, providing a unique natural characteristic. The beach is also surrounded by cliffs and turquoise water, adding to its breathtaking scenery. However, there is no natural shade on the beach, so visitors are advised to bring their own umbrellas.
The beach is accessible through a narrow and winding road from the highway. The road is quite challenging, requiring good driving skills and a raised car. Lowered cars may have difficulty navigating the road due to its many turns and slopes. Despite these challenges, many visitors find the journey worthwhile for the serene and unspoiled beach that awaits.
Parking is available next to the beach, although it can be a bit difficult due to the limited space. There are also parking lots a few hundred meters before the beach where visitors can park their cars for a fee. Alternatively, some visitors choose to park 450m before arriving and walk the rest of the way.
Once at the beach, visitors can choose to stay near the entrance or walk further to the left for a less crowded experience. The left side of the beach is particularly recommended for its fine sand and stunning views. Despite its popularity, Megali Petra Beach is not overly crowded, especially if visitors arrive early in the day.
