Gialos Beach is a long stone beach characterized by high dirt walls, reminiscent of the White Cliffs of Dover. The beach provides easy access to the sea, which remains shallow for a considerable distance, making it suitable for children. The beach is also known for its colorful little stones that visitors often collect.
The beach is relatively narrow, with a width of approximately 5 to 6 meters, but it provides enough space for a chair or towel. The beach is a mix of pebbles and sand, and the water is generally clear, offering a pleasant swimming experience. A unique feature of the beach is the wet and shiny rock walls, a result of small wells from above. Visitors often leave their mark by drawing or writing on these wet walls and inserting small stones into them.
Gialos Beach is not typically crowded, even during peak times such as mid-afternoon. In terms of amenities, there is a taverna nearby that opens from 5 p.m. Parking is available, albeit limited, and can be found along the steep road leading to the beach. Despite its relative seclusion, Gialos Beach is easily accessible and offers a beautiful view, especially during sunset. It is considered a must-visit location on Corfu Island.
