The beach stretches approximately 2.6 kilometers and is known for its white sand and relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The beach has a reputation for being a "hippie" beach with a vibrant nightlife, offering live music, fire shows, and independently owned bars that often host party nights. Despite the lively nightlife, the beach maintains a quiet ambiance due to its length and undeveloped areas, which allows music to be played late into the night without disturbing guests.
The beach is characterized by its rocky terrain both on the shore and in the water, which can make swimming challenging, especially during low tide when the water level can drop as much as 2 meters, exposing the rocky shoreline. Despite this, swimming is possible during high tide. Visitors are advised to be cautious of potential hazards such as broken bottles hidden in the sand, and it is recommended to wear shoes for safety.
Klong Khong Beach is lined with numerous pubs and features a variety of amenities such as restaurants, bars, and resorts, most of which are family-owned and operated. The beach and the road parallel to it form Klong Khong Village, offering a range of accommodation options from budget to middle-class hotels and resorts. Despite the presence of these amenities, the beach is known for its affordable prices as it lacks major commercial development.
Klong Khong Beach is located approximately 9.2 km from Saladan Pier, the arrival and departure point for long-distance passenger ferries, making it easily accessible for visitors. Despite its amenities and accessible location, some visitors have noted that the beach can be quite polluted. Regardless, it continues to attract a diverse range of visitors, including families and long-term travelers, due to its unique atmosphere and value-for-money accommodations and dining options.
