Kum Denizi Plajı

Urla Kum Denizi Plajı is a popular beach located in the town of Urla, İzmir, known for its clear and warm waters which make it a favored spot for families, non-swimmers, and fishing enthusiasts. The beach is operated by the Urla Municipality and boasts of spacious sandy and grassy areas for visitors to relax. The beach is characterized by shallow waters, making it particularly popular among families with small children. It is often crowded with both local and foreign tourists, even during weekdays. One of the significant attractions of the beach is the view of Karantina Island which is directly across the beach. Visitors to Urla Kum Denizi Plajı are required to pay an entrance fee which includes access to amenities such as sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, and cabins. While the cleanliness of the beach has been a point of concern due to litter issues, the beach management offers affordable meals and beverages as outside food and drinks are not permitted. To reach the beach, visitors can either use their own vehicles or take public transportation from Izmir. The beach is easily accessible via a dolmuş (shared taxi) from İzmir to Urla or by taking the tram or underground to Fehretrin Altay, followed by bus line 984. The journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. The beach is surrounded by iron bars and offers parking facilities for visitors who choose to drive. However, there have been recent concerns about parts of the beach becoming privately owned. Despite these issues, the clarity of the water remains a key attraction for visitors.
