Plage de l'Alga is a picturesque beach, located in the town of Calvi on the island of Corsica. Nestled in the Gulf of Revellata, this beach is known for its wild and scenic beauty. The beach is relatively small, approximately 100 meters in length, and is characterized by its clear, transparent waters and gentle sloping swimming area. However, it is worth noting that the beach may occasionally be covered in seaweed.
The beach is accessible by car, but the trail leading to it can be challenging due to its rough and unpaved nature. From Calvi, one would take the D81B road towards Ajaccio, turning right at the beginning of the Gulf of Revellata towards Porto and Ajaccio. After about 50 meters, the access to the beach is marked by a trail between two stone pillars, located just after a small roadside parking area. There is also a small parking area near the beach.
Despite its remote location, the beach is popular among hikers due to the scenic views it offers of the gulf. However, there are no markets or shops in the vicinity, so visitors are advised to bring necessary provisions such as food and water.
In terms of amenities, Plage de l'Alga is relatively basic. There used to be a beach bar, but it is no longer operational, and there are no other facilities available. Due to its small size, it is recommended to arrive early, especially during the summer, as the beach can become crowded.
While the beach is easily accessible from the cross located under the chapel Notre-Dame de la Serra, it can also be reached by boat or by trekking to the Revellata lighthouse, which offers additional scenic views. Despite its natural beauty, some visitors may find Plage de l'Alga less charming compared to other beaches in the area.
