Playa de las Arenas

Playa de las Arenas is a picturesque beach known for its unique black sand and big waves. The beach is characterized by its natural beauty, including the surrounding mountain scenery and the presence of natural swimming pools that form during low tide. These pools provide an opportunity for both kids and adults to explore sea life. The beach is long and primarily composed of fine black volcanic sand, although there are some rocky stretches. On one side of the beach, there are rocks, while the other side is dominated by the beach itself. The sea can be rough, making it a bit tricky to swim, but a lifeguard is usually present to ensure safety. Despite the rough sea, the beach is considered family-friendly. In terms of amenities, there is a small shop that sells coffee, ice cream, and snacks during the high season. However, there are no showers available on the beach. Parking is not a problem at Playa de las Arenas, as there is a huge free parking lot just a few meters away from the beach. The beach is also accessible via a great hiking path, which offers amazing viewpoints of the mountains, ocean, and beach. The beach can get crowded during the high season, and the waves can get high when the northwesterly wind is blowing. Despite these factors, the spectacular scenery of Playa de las Arenas makes it worth a visit.
