Playa de los Roques, also known as El Bajío, is a natural beach located in the municipality of San Juan de la Rambla within the autonomous community of Canarias, specifically in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the island of Tenerife. The beach stretches over a length of 300 meters and a width of 15 meters. The landscape of the beach is characterized by pebbles and gravel, rather than sand, which forms its ground. The tides have little effect on the width of the beach, maintaining a consistent landscape. Unique to this locale, large crabs can be found among the rocks, adding a distinctive charm to the beach.
The beach is not particularly suitable for conventional beach activities such as swimming or sunbathing, due to its rough sea and pebbly terrain. Instead, it is appreciated for its natural beauty and unique characteristics. It is surrounded by cliffs on either side, further enhancing its untouched appeal.
Playa de los Roques can be accessed either on foot or by car. However, it should be noted that reaching the beach could be challenging due to the pathways leading down to it. In the past, the beach has been closed due to falling hills, emphasizing the need to be cautious when visiting. Despite these challenges, the beach is connected to public transportation through an urban bus line for those who prefer not to drive. For visitors who wish to use a private vehicle, the nearest road to the beach is the TF-5.
The beach is located 8 km away from the nearest marina, the 'Garachico' marina. In terms of healthcare facilities, the closest is the San Juan de la Rambla Health Center, which is just 0.4 km away. Despite its somewhat remote location, the beach does not tend to be crowded, offering a tranquil experience for visitors.
