The Plage de l'Ostriconi is a tranquil beach situated in the village of Palasca, Corsica, to the north of Calvi. Nestled at the edge of the Agriates Desert, it forms the commencement point for the coastal trail of the Agriates. This beach stretches over an expansive 700 meters, characterized by its pristine white sand, azure waters, and the presence of numerous sand dunes that lend it a unique wild appeal.
Adding to its natural charm is the Ostriconi River that backs the beach and the presence of posidonia, a type of seagrass, in some areas. However, visitors are advised to exercise caution while swimming, especially during rough sea conditions due to the presence of dangerous currents. Despite the absence of specific amenities or activities, it does house a small kiosk that offers drinks and fast food.
In terms of accessibility, the beach can be reached from Calvi by heading in the direction of Bastia and Palasca. The route to the beach is marked after a left turn. An added layer of adventure to the journey is the crossing of a wooden bridge and a small river to reach the beach. Dogs on leashes are also permitted on the beach.
The beach provides free parking facilities located conveniently close, with only a short 5-10 minute walk separating the parking area from the beach. Despite its allure, the beach is not typically crowded, making for a serene and peaceful environment for visitors.
