Marchesa di Cassibile Beach

Marchesa di Cassibile Beach is a scenic beach located in the Marchesato di Cassibile in Avola, Sicily. This beach is named after a noblewoman who owns the land on which it is situated. It forms part of the Riserva Naturale di Cava Grande del Cassibile, also known as Pineta del Gelsomineto, a nature reserve that offers an untouched glimpse of Sicily's landscape. The beach is situated adjacent to the Cassibile river, which originates from the Iblei mountains and is renowned for its small lakes or "laghetti".

The beach is known for its clear sand and unspoiled environment, making it a popular spot in the Eloro district. Despite its popularity, it is not overly crowded, offering tranquil spots under bamboo or trees. The beach tends to be busiest in July and August, with fewer visitors during the rest of the year.

Marchesa di Cassibile Beach provides several amenities to its visitors. There is a parking facility available for a fee, and it operates on a cash-only basis. This parking area is situated just behind the beach. However, during certain months when this parking area is closed, visitors can park their vehicles on the other side of the main road 'SS115', which is about a 7-minute walk from the beach. Visitors are urged not to leave any valuables in their cars when parking on the road.

For those seeking adventure, the beach offers a trekking path. A short hike along the cliff line to the right of the beach leads to small cliff diving areas. The hike, which takes less than 10 minutes by foot, passes through tight bushes and can be a bit slippery on the smooth rocks.

The beach is accessible, and visitors can reach it by following the statale 115 towards Siracusa, before the roundabout for Fontane Bianche. Despite its secluded location, the beach is easy to find with the help of navigation tools.
