Marina di Leporano Spiaggia Libera, also known as La Fontana beach or Seno la Fontana, is a public beach located in the municipality of Pulsano, in the region of Taranto, Italy. This beach is part of the larger Marina di Leporano beach area, which includes a series of sandy coves along a rocky coastline that are washed by the waters of the Ionian Sea.
The beach features very fine golden sand and crystal clear blue sea. The shallow waters of the beach often appear celestial in color, tending towards a light blue. A unique feature of this beach is a small freshwater stream that bisects the beach roughly in the middle.
Marina di Leporano Spiaggia Libera is easily accessible, though parking available on-site is limited. The beach tends to become overcrowded during the peak summer season, which runs from July 1st to August 20th. This high influx of visitors can sometimes lead to a decrease in the water's purity and crystallinity.
The beach offers amenities such as sports facilities for beach volleyball, beach tennis, and aquagym and swimming courses. There is also an elevator to aid visitors with mobility difficulties in accessing the beach.
Despite some cleanliness issues related to waste left behind by visitors, the natural beauty of Marina di Leporano Spiaggia Libera, the clarity of its seabed, and the scenic environment it provides have earned it high praise. The beach is also home to several coves, including Baia di Gandoli, Baia di Saturo, and Porto Pirrone, each providing distinct natural features and recreational opportunities. The Porto Pirrone cove, located near a camping site, is particularly popular among families and offers Caribbean-like waters that can be explored through diving or pedalo rides. Lastly, there is a small harbor located in the cliff of Baia d'Argento, adding to the scenic beauty of the area.
