Mesovrika Beach is a picturesque, secluded cove located on the northeastern side of the Greek island of Antipaxos, nestled between the popular beaches of Voutoumi and Vrika. The beach is characterized by its natural beauty, featuring white pebbles and large shingles instead of sand. The rocks extending on both sides of the bay add to the feeling of isolation, despite the presence of private yachts.
The beach is renowned for its warm, calm, and shallow turquoise waters, with an extraordinary clarity that allows visitors to see the stones on the seabed. This, coupled with the high salt content of the water, make Mesovrika Beach a popular spot for swimming and snorkeling, especially near the rocks. Visitors, however, are advised to check for jellyfish before entering the water.
Surrounded by lush green hills and cliffs, Mesovrika Beach offers plenty of shaded areas for relaxation and stunning panoramic views of the bay of Paxi and the mainland. Despite being a popular destination, the beach can get crowded, particularly between 11:00 and 12:00 in the morning when it is frequented by cruise ships. It is therefore recommended to visit the beach early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the crowds.
While Mesovrika Beach itself is relatively undeveloped with no facilities, there are daytime taverns at Vrika or Voutoumi, which are just a five-minute walk away. These taverns serve meals and also offer sunbeds and umbrellas for rent. The journey to Mesovrika Beach, though potentially challenging, is considered worth the effort due to the beach's stunning beauty and serene atmosphere.
Boats can be rented, and taxi boats connect the nearby towns of Gaios, Lakka, and Loggos to the beaches on Antipaxos, making Mesovrika Beach easily accessible to visitors from the neighboring island of Corfu. Despite its relative seclusion, Mesovrika Beach attracts many visitors with its natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere.
