The beach is part of the eastern section of Xi beach, but is generally less crowded. It features two beach bars and numerous umbrellas near the water. However, there are also wider, less crowded sections of the beach that offer a more tranquil experience. The sand on the beach is composed of special clay, which many visitors enjoy using for natural mud baths. Megas Lakkos Beach is child-friendly, with shallow waters that extend for quite a distance, making it safe for young ones to explore. The beach offers a variety of activities, from building sandcastles to playing beach volleyball. There are both untouched natural stretches and areas where umbrellas can be rented for the day. One of the highlights of Megas Lakkos Beach is the opportunity to witness the hatching of loggerhead sea turtles, known as caretta caretta. This unique spectacle adds to the natural beauty and wonder of the beach. Despite its beauty and appeal, the beach remains relatively uncrowded, with plenty of shells and lovely sand. In some parts, visitors can enjoy complete solitude. However, visitors are advised not to rely on Google Maps for directions to the beach, as it has been known to lead to a private residence. Instead, it is recommended to direct your navigation system to the beach bungalows.
