Platja des Coll Baix, often referred to as Coll Baix, is a secluded pebble beach located approximately 8 kilometers from the town of Alcúdia, in the northeastern part of Mallorca. It is known for its natural, wild, and untouched beauty, offering a peaceful escape away from mass tourism. The beach is characterized by its length of over 200 meters and a width of 50 meters.
The beach's location is not easy to reach, making it a less crowded destination, except for the boats that occasionally anchor near the coast. The access to the beach involves a drive through a narrow and rocky path, which can be difficult and may require a vehicle with high ground clearance. Although an all-wheel drive is not necessary, it is preferred for a stress-free journey.
Upon reaching the free parking area at Es Collet des Coll Baix, visitors must then embark on a hike that takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the pace. This trail is slightly challenging as it follows the coastline, involving scrambling over rocks and navigating steep drops. It is recommended to wear proper footwear such as hiking shoes for the hike. The path may not be suitable for small children or those who are not sure-footed.
Despite the challenging access, the beach is worth a visit for its stunning views and the unforgettable experience it offers. It is an ideal location for families to spend a day and have a picnic, given the clean water and the impressive color of the sea. However, it is important to note that there are no nearby restaurants, water sports facilities, or disabled access walkways. The beach's seclusion and the presence of wild goats add to its unique charm, but the journey to the beach can be more demanding than expected for some visitors.
