Potamos Beach Epanomi, or Επανομή, is a popular beach destination located near the town of Epanomi, which is part of the municipality of Thermaikos in the Thessaloniki regional unit of Greece. The town of Epanomi is approximately 25 kilometers from the city center of Thessaloniki, making the beach easily accessible for locals and tourists alike.
The beach is known for its wide sandy areas and shallow waters near the shore, which make it particularly warm and suitable for bathing. It is also favorable for winter bathing due to its southern orientation. The beach extends for a considerable length, with different sections offering varying atmospheres. Some parts are bustling with activity, while others are quieter and more secluded. A notable feature of the beach is a shipwreck that can be seen from the shore, and the beach also offers stunning views of Mount Olympus, adding to its natural beauty.
Potamos Beach Epanomi provides a variety of amenities, including a restaurant, beach bar, and two to three snack cantines. Visitors also have access to sunbeds and umbrellas for their comfort. Despite the availability of these amenities, some parts of the beach remain relatively untouched, providing a more natural and tranquil setting. However, visitors should be mindful of littering as there is a reported lack of garbage cans on the beach.
The beach is accessible by both car and bus. Epanomi is connected to the east side of Thessaloniki through line 69 of the Thessaloniki Urban Transport Organization and its sub-lines, and there are also other bus lines that connect Epanomi with different areas in Thessaloniki.
The beach can get quite crowded, especially on weekends, due to its popularity for relaxation and socializing. Despite this, it still manages to offer a mix of natural beauty, good facilities, and accessibility, making it a favored choice for beachgoers in the Thessaloniki area.
