Playa de San Julián, Liendo is a picturesque beach nestled on the eastern coast of Cantabria, Spain. This beach is situated at the Candina massif, a limestone mountain with a rich variety of karst formations such as depressions, sinkholes, and chasms. This massif, which includes Monte Buciero and Monte Cerredo, towers nearly 500 meters above the Cantabrian Sea and houses a large colony of griffon vultures.
The beach is accessible via a hiking trail that begins at Playa Sonabia. The trail winds along the base of the Candina massif's northern slope, offering breathtaking views of the towering cliffs. The trail then descends through a forest of oak trees, leading to the Liendo coast. From there, the path follows a westward direction along the coastline. To the south, hikers can observe the Liendo depression, also known as Polje de Liendo. The journey concludes at the rugged and beautiful Playa de San Julián.
Despite its small size, Playa de San Julián, Liendo is celebrated for its stunning landscape and serene atmosphere. It is not typically overcrowded, making it an ideal spot for those seeking tranquility and relaxation.
