Cala Santandria is a scenic resort located on the western coast of Menorca, approximately 3km south of Ciutadella, the island's former capital. This resort has grown steadily since the 1990s, merging with neighboring resorts Cala Blanca and Sa Caleta.
The resort boasts a picturesque beach nestled in a small cove, characterized by its clear waters and fine sandy shores. The beach is divided into two areas, both accessible by swimming or walking through the platforms. The natural beauty of the area is further enhanced by the breathtaking sunset views and nearby coves leading up to Sa Caleta, including a hidden cave where visitors can rest and have lunch. However, the beach can sometimes be crowded, especially during high season and on weekends.
Cala Santandria is equipped with various amenities for the convenience of its visitors. There are water sports facilities and equipment available for hire, alongside lifeguards to ensure the safety of swimmers. The resort also offers a variety of dining options with several restaurants located around the beach.
For those traveling to the resort, it is approximately 50km west of Mahon and the International Aeropuerto de Menorca. The journey by car can take around 40-50 minutes, passing through towns such as Alaior, es Mercadel, and Ferreries via the main road, ME-1. A bypass, RC-2 Ronda Sud Ciutadella, is also available for those who wish to avoid the center of Ciutadella. Taxis from the airport to the resort are readily available, with a typical fare being around 55€ for a taxi carrying 4 people plus luggage. Once at the resort, a good public transport system is available, including a bus service running north towards Ciutadella and further journeys to Mahon.
Parking is conveniently located near the beach, making it easily accessible for those who prefer to drive. However, it should be noted that the beach can sometimes become dirty with algae and duck feathers due to the presence of many ducks in the area. Despite these minor challenges, Cala Santandria remains a charming resort, offering a relaxing and enjoyable experience for its visitors.
