São Jacinto Beach

São Jacinto Beach is a hidden gem located near Aveiro. It is known for its vast, wild, and secluded nature, often described as one of the best beaches. The beach is characterized by its white sands, plenty of dunes, and crashing building-sized waves that are a sight to behold. It is typically not crowded, with visitors noting its emptiness even during peak seasons.

Access to the beach is possible from the São Jacintho ferry terminal, which is approximately 2km away. The ferry runs about once an hour from the Aveiro ferry terminal. Alternatively, visitors can opt for a taxi ride. Once at the beach, access is facilitated by a wooden walkway that leads to a long stretch of white sand before reaching the sea.

There is a parking lot available for those who prefer to drive. However, visitors should note that there are no restaurants or other services nearby. Therefore, it is advisable to bring a picnic from one of the small supermarkets in Aveiro.

The beach lacks shade, so visitors are advised to bring their own sun protection. Swimming and surfing are possible, but visitors would need to bring their own equipment. The waves can be monstrous and wild, adding to the beach's appeal, but also posing a challenge for swimmers and surfers.

Nearby, there is a nature reserve that visitors may want to explore, although access may not be straightforward from the beach.
