Spasmata Beach is a picturesque location in Kefalonia, known for its varying natural characteristics. The beach has different sections, some of which are rocky and pebbly, while others boast smooth sand. Towards the cliffs, the beach becomes idyllic with no pebbles and the presence of sea caves. The beach is also known for its shallow waters, making it suitable for children.
The beach is equipped with several amenities for the comfort of its visitors. There is a well-stocked beach bar that serves drinks, ice cream, and other standard fare. The beach also offers sunbeds and umbrellas for rent. Additionally, it is one of the few beaches in Kefalonia that provides Wi-Fi. For hygiene purposes, a shower head and hose pipe are available for washing. However, the toilet facilities are located in the car park area.
Parking at Spasmata Beach is convenient, with a parking area that almost always has space. The beach can be accessed by driving, but the roads leading to it are known for their high gradient and tight, blind bends. It is recommended to take a specific route to reach the beach safely, which involves exiting from the airport road, going downhill to the first Y junction, taking the left, following the road until the next Y junction, and then taking the right. This route leads to a wide road next to the airport runway.
Spasmata Beach is not typically crowded, with many visitors choosing to sit at the deckchairs with umbrellas. However, it is worth noting that the beach becomes more secluded and free of facilities towards the end, where there are three small caves accessible only by water. The beach also offers a unique experience for plane lovers, as it is located right next to the airport, allowing visitors to watch planes landing when the wind conditions are favorable.
