Playa de Torimbia is a picturesque beach situated in the municipality of Llanes, in the region of Asturias, Spain. It is located near the town of Niembro and is renowned for its breathtaking landscape that includes a large cliff, high hills, lush greenery, and a tiny island nearby. The beach is isolated, providing a tranquil environment for beach-goers, and is particularly favoured by nature lovers.
The beach stretches 500 meters in length and 100 meters in width, with its shoreline taking on a conch shape. It boasts strong waves, wind, crystal-clear waters, and white sand, making it an ideal location for water sports such as diving and fishing. The bathing area is shallow and stable with no rocks or algae that could hinder swimming, and the currents are not considered dangerous.
Playa de Torimbia is known as a nudist beach, with a considerable number of visitors choosing to sunbathe or swim without clothing. This is a factor potential visitors may wish to take into account, especially those with children or individuals who may feel uncomfortable with nudity.
The beach is accessible by foot via a sandy path, which can be challenging to navigate but is generally considered worth the effort given the beach's serene atmosphere and natural beauty. The closest road to the beach is the N-634. It should be noted that there is no access for disabled individuals and the beach is a 10-15 minute steep descent from the parking point.
Parking is available in an unguarded lot with fewer than 50 spaces. The parking is free, however, it can become chaotic due to the lack of signage and police enforcement for road parking.
In terms of amenities, options are limited. There is only one restaurant available for food and beverages. The nearest hospital is the Hospital del Oriente de Asturias, located in Urbanización Castañera, for any potential emergencies.
Despite its remote location and the effort required to reach it, Playa de Torimbia is frequently crowded during the peak season. Visitors are drawn to its unspoiled coastal area, the opportunity to partake in water sports, and the chance to relax amidst its natural beauty.
