Torre del Cerrano

Torre del Cerrano is a picturesque and serene beach located in the province of Teramo, near the town of Pineto, in the region of Abruzzo, Italy. The beach is part of the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area, which spans 3,431 hectares, and is renowned for its pristine environment, including sand dunes, a free beach area, and a dense forest of domestic and Aleppo pine trees that extends for seven kilometers.

The beach itself is several kilometers long and is characterized by a long stretch of fine, light-colored sand, and clean waters. The shallow seabed makes it a safe and popular destination for families with children. The beach is typically not crowded, providing visitors with ample space to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. However, visitors should note that there are no amenities such as toilets or bars on the beach, and there are no garbage cans, so it is important to take any litter with when leaving.

Adjacent to the beach is the Torre del Cerrano, an ancient and well-preserved watchtower built during the Kingdom of Naples to defend against Saracen and corsair raids. The tower, which is open to visitors, houses various museums and exhibitions, including the International Veterinary Training Centre, a library, and the Maritime Museum. However, it is only open on Sunday mornings outside of the peak season.

Getting to the beach can be challenging as parking near the vicinity can be difficult, and it may require a bit of a walk to reach the beach. It's also important to note that dogs are not allowed on the beach within the Torre del Cerrano Marine Protected Area from March 1st to July 30th. Despite these considerations, the natural beauty and tranquility of Torre del Cerrano make it a worthwhile destination for beachgoers.
