Playa de Valdearenas

Playa de Valdearenas, also known as Playa de Liencres, is a beach located in the town of Liencres within the municipality of Piélagos, Cantabria, Spain. The beach is situated adjacent to the natural park of Las Dunas de Liencres, and is known for its natural and tranquil environment. Spanning approximately 2800 meters in length and 50 meters in width, the beach features golden fine-grained sand, strong waves, and often windy conditions. These characteristics make it a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts, particularly surfers, windsurfers, and kitesurfers. It is also renowned for its spectacular sunsets. Playa de Valdearenas is considered an isolated beach and is part of a protected area. Despite this, during peak season it tends to be quite crowded. The western part of the beach is traditionally used for naturism, and the beach, in general, is known to attract camper van travelers. In terms of amenities, the beach is equipped with a team of lifeguards for safety. It also provides basic facilities, and visitors are encouraged to help maintain the cleanliness of the beach. Access to Playa de Valdearenas is possible by car, with clear signage for directions. The nearest road is CA-305 and the beach also has disabled access. Parking is available in an unguarded lot with over 100 spaces, and additional parking can be found along the road through the nearby pine forest. Public transportation to the beach is also available. Despite these conveniences, the parking areas can become crowded, especially around midday.
